Day 2 – Gratitude
My little feet have trekked all around this neighborhood. I have my favorite house on each street. I know which trees reflect sunset best. I know which sidewalks house the most crunch-with-my-step leaves. Taking a daily jaunt prevents loneliness. I see people. I see nature. I see life.
Today, I am thankful for the opportunity to take these strolls. I’m thankful for strong legs that don’t give out, that carry me upright through this journey. I’m thankful for the sun and how it encourages me to get out of my house. I’m thankful for Spotify and for Sufjan, creating a perfect backdrop for a peaceful, thought-provoking ramble home. I am thankful for the coffee that warms me from the inside out. I’m thankful for 50-degree days in late November. And I’m thankful for a warm home waiting for my return.
Sometimes I begrudge working at home. I miss the regular camaraderie with coworkers, and routine of having a place to go every day. But then I consider the relinquishment of my daily walk that working in an office would require. It’s disheartening. So, in turn, I’m thankful for my job, which affords me the opportunity to breathe fresh air and plot a course to travel with me legs each day.
