Starting with the Core


Winter is coming! But worse than that, so is the time of year for all things unhealthy. I mean the atmosphere is ripe for hibernation and unhealthy eating — cozy nights reading by the fire, treats on treats on treats, evenings growing longer, and cold weather hampering many outdoor endeavors.

As a preventative measure for all the junk I know that I’ll inevitably eat, I decided to embark on a journey this month — a strict workout regime that started Monday, Nov. 2. Because sugar and carbs are my downfalls, whenever I start to gain a few pounds, it goes directly to my belly. Therefore, I’ve decided to focus on core workouts. Every other day, I’ll do this. During off days, I’ll run, dance, play tennis, go for walks, practice yoga and generally just try to stay active. I’ll supplement each daily workout with creatine before and a protein shake after.

As I type these words on my computer, my arms already feel like jello, but my mind is happy. I’ve been somewhat down recently. I’m not sure if it’s the job I’m currently holding, the numerous dreary days we’ve had or the loneliness of working alone everyday. Whatever it may be, adding a steady workout habit to my every day will help. In fact, just the endorphins provided from today’s session, already have me feeling like I could takeover the world. Exercising makes me feel confident and provides me with the happiness of completing a goal. It’s been quite a while since I’ve held myself accountable to a regular workout regime. Thanks for journeying on this adventure with me and helping me stay accountable.
