Yoga Pants & Heels

I love hearing the sound of my heels on hardwood floors. Although it ignites a fear worth puffing his tail out three-times its original circumference to my cat, to me it sounds like confidence, drive and purpose.

The fact is, the beats these heels make don’t just sound like these characteristics, they transform me into a person exuding those traits.

See, most days I don’t get out of yoga pants, and the only items covering my feed are soft and wooly. I’m generally always comfortable. It’s one of he perks of my work-from-home job.

However, sometimes this perk just isn’t one at all. True, I don’t have to dress up everyday. Mornings can be spent meditating, working out and reading instead of dressing to impress and leaving my home for the rest of the day.

But sometimes I feel like an outsider. Losing myself in my own thoughts because those are the only human ideas I’m around all day. When I stay in comfortable clothes all day, I feel even less productive. Maybe that’s just a societal norm that I should strive to overcome. Nonetheless, there’s something to be said about the routine of “getting ready” in the mornings that creates a preparedness and mindset, empowering us to conquer our days.

When I put heels on in he morning, I feel like I can do anything. Perhaps it’s because I’m several inches taller, and when you’re not even 5 ft tall, those extra inches make such a difference. Now I can reach my coffee mugs without scaling the dish washer. Still, I think it’s more than that. My stride has gained that assured edge, and it transforms my mindset to tenacity and purpose. It’s like this one little act places me in the world of the working. I feel more productive and driven to accomplish the task at hand.

When I first started working from home, I read many articles about retaining sanity and utilizing time wisely when I was in charge of holding myself accountable. Unanimously, authors discussed having a morning routine, including getting ready just like I would if I was going into the office. And in typical Meghan fashion, I thought I could rise above the norm. I’m sorry to disappoint you readers, but I’ve decided to succumb to the suggestion. Truth resides in what the “experts” say.

Therefore, I’m going to try to get dressed before I open my work computer and start my day, even if that means some mornings I’ll try the yoga pants/heels combination.

About me

Hello friends! I’m Meghan, a lady on the petite side of life, but I’ve never let that stop me. Some call me spunky others call me sassy; but I always try to round that out with some sugar. A tried-and-true realist, I want this blog to honestly capture my attempt at living life to the fullest.
