Your Typical “Purpose of This Blog” post
As I sit here in my sun porch between a beermosa and my precious, sleeping cat, I am fully contented, basking in today’s simplicity. However, I know the week ahead is going to be hectic and stressful. Today, I won’t think about that, and I’ll let myself enjoy the moment.
This blog is all about that juxtaposition – pushing myself to make the most out of today, the most out my resources and the most out of my short life, while still taking the time to relish in stillness and maintain a grateful spirit. Like other millennials, I’m bombarded by continuous knowledge – the world is our oyster. I always get intimidated by the idea that I could do anything, so I retreat to work and the pursuit of fun. In turn, I haven’t spent nearly enough time searching for my passions nor advancing my skill sets beyond novice. This life is short, and I want to be able to look back and know that I spent my time intentionally, while infusing it with fun and reflection.
The name of this blog is simple and so is its meaning. Life is short – duh, but also, I’m short in stature. Measuring in at only four feet, ten-and-a-half inches, one may say I’m “pint-sized”. Although I’ve never really felt “short” (except when I see a shadow or reflection of myself and think, “Holy Crap! Am I really that tiny?”), I still deal with what I call short-girl problems: pants never fit; Maxi dresses – forget about them. I’m an expert scaler of cabinets and shelves, and my nose is desensitized to body odor because I’m always at armpit level.
Through the lens of a shorty, The Short Life will track my adventures, the discovery of my passions, the pursuit of knowledge, and life lessons learned. You can expect to hear stories about travel, friendships, relationships, general philosophical rambles, attempted recipes, health, DIY projects, and much more. I’ll imbue these stories with humor, sincerity and most importantly brutal honesty. Thanks for joining me on my little life adventure.
